Bitches’ Critiques:

Many thanks to the committee of South Western Rottweiler Association for asking me to judge bitches at their 2016 Championship Show: it was a great honour. Many thanks to my ring stewards who kept things running smoothly and a special thanks to everyone who entered their dogs.

I had the chance to go over some quality females. My main winners were of excellent type and there are a few younger females in the lower classes whose future I will watch with interest. I enjoyed my appointment I was given a very large ring which was used to its maximum. I like to move the dogs mainly because any dog can be conditioned to move up and down and a triangle. When a dog is moved more extensively you can see more the condition of the dog, if it has the drive level to keep moving and it wants to and enjoys being shown. Any faults that you cannot see at first soon come to the surface as there’s no hiding place for them.

One point I did notice which needs keeping an eye on is not just the loss of mouth pigmentation but also the loss of pigmentation of the nose. Both needs bearing in mind when planning future breeding’s at once taken hold it will be very hard to reverse. You should never take any point for granted because once you lose it, it’s very hard to get it back.

MPB (8: 4a)
1st Hucker’s BEVANRAY RITA
I don’t think she will end up the biggest of bitches but what she may lack in size she will not lack in quality. Strong but feminine type head with well-defined stop, excellent expression, medium well set ears. I would prefer a darker eye but they are the correct shape, good fill under the eye and well developed muzzle, black tight lips, correct scissor bite, mouth pigmentation dark, strong neck, clean over the shoulders, strong level topline, correct depth of chest for age, width as expected at this stage and will develop with age. Good underline, short coupled, at this age moderate front angulation very good rear angulation, bone correct for size, stands four square, tight feet, correct coat, rich tan, presents a very good profile standing. She has very good ground covering movement especially for her age, tail carriage correct, she has a very bright future ahead
2nd James & Thompson’s BAMABEL GABRIELLA
Feminine head with moderate stop, medium well set ears, dark eye colour of correct shape, I would prefer more fill under the eye and more cushion on muzzle. Her head is still very much in development and needs more time to finish, black tight lip line, scissor bite, dark mouth pigmentation, strong neck, clean over the shoulders leading into a strong topline, very good depth and width of chest, good underline, short coupled, good front and rear angulation, stands four square, tight feet, correct coat, medium tan, presents good profile on the stand, moves a little wide coming towards you on the move at the moment but she excels in side profile movement, tail carriage correct

Dogs’ Critiques:

I would like to thank the committee in the first instance for inviting me to judge the dogs at their Championship Show. Also, thank you for the hospitality afforded to me and a huge thanks for my lovely gift (and to Thelma and Louise – thanks for the road trip!!LOL.) I would like to thank the exhibitors for their entries, and for the gracious way my placings on the day were taken: I really could have done with more red cards in some of the classes! I would also like to say a big thanks to my two stewards who kept the ring running smooth all day. I thoroughly enjoyed my day in your company! Again a big thank you to all involved in making my day a very enjoyable one.

1st James, Thompson & Purchase’s BAMABEL GINO
A lovely baby, very raw at this stage but everything where it should be! Nice clear markings, tight feet, good top and underlines, topline held very well on the move for a youngster. Used his strong hocks well to cover the ground. Nice headpiece – dry, with dark eye, and earset close to head. Showed well
2nd Abell’s BEVANRAY REGGIE
Another very nice youngster, slightly longer cast than 1. Lovely expression, dark eye, headpiece in balance at this stage of his development. Good rear angles well used on the move. He held his topline on the move, but tended to lose it a bit on the stand sometimes. Liked his earset and tailset. Well-schooled, and did his mum proud
